The latest reports predict that human population will keep increasing — and keep crowding out wildlife — at unprecedented levels. The Center fights to stop the resulting crises by protecting wildlife and promoting common-sense solutions like access to family-planning and reproductive-health services, as well as education, opportunity and equal rights for women and girls.
But what about getting the other half of the population involved?
Men are often left out of the conversation about the need for family-planning services and how to address population growth. Not anymore, thanks to a global initiative to include more men in these conversations and to celebrate those who are the unsung heroes of their families and the planet.
World Vasectomy Day was founded in 2013 by Jonathan Stack, an Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated filmmaker, and urologist Dr. Doug Stein in the hopes of heightening awareness of and dispelling myths about vasectomy, increasing access to the procedure, and inspiring more men to become engaged as equal partners with women in the family planning conversation.
The inaugural event was wildly successful, with more than 100 doctors in 25 countries performing 1,000 vasectomies in a 24-hour time period. The second annual World Vasectomy Day will be taking place on November 7, 2014, with at least 200 physicians in 25 countries — including the United States, Australia, India, Kenya, China and Colombia — performing vasectomies.
Help spread the word about how men can get involved in the conversation about family planning, population growth and the future of our planet by sharing our World Vasectomy Day flyer and talking about the importance of men sharing responsibility for the health of their partners, their families and the planet.

For Your Family … because choosing your family size increases the joy of parenthood and the quality of life for your children.
For Your Sex Life … because eliminating the fear of unintended pregnancy can spice things up.
For Wildlife … because we're crowding out wildlife — adding 227,000 people to the planet every day as wildlife species are disappearing 1,000 to 10,000 times faster than the natural rate.
For the Planet … because a vasectomy lowers a man’s carbon footprint 28 times more, on average, than a lifetime of recycling, reducing and reusing.
For Freedom, Forever … because it’s the most effective option available when your family is complete.
