The Center AT HUDSON BAY, CANADA, November 2010
After fasting all summer, polar bears were returning to the sea ice to hunt — and the Center's polar bear lawyers, Kassie Siegel and Brendan Cummings, were on the western edge of Hudson Bay in Manitoba, Canada, in November 2010 to watch them. And you can, too: Check out these videos taken by Kassie and Brendan of polar bears they saw and learn about how Hudson Bay has become Ground Zero in the fight to save the polar bear, the place where climate changes have hit the species hardest.
Kassie and Brendan also took part in Polar Bear International's Tundra Connections, which streamed live webcasts and video straight from the Bay to your computer. Participants logged on and asked questions of polar-bear experts in real time, plus got the rare opportunity to see one of the Far North's most iconic mammals, live, in the wild.
