Fracking Protestors Swarm State of the State in Albany

By Matt Porter

Albany, NY (WBNG Binghamton) At least 1,000 fracking protestors swarmed the capital in Albany for the governor's State of the State address.

Some officials said the demonstration may have been the largest in the speech's history.

People in the demonstration traveled from all over the state including the Southern Tier.

"What kind of future are we going to have?" said Alex Keill from Guilford, "Are we going to determine it or are we going to let outside forces determine that situation?"

Although most opposed gas drilling in New York, there were some standing in support of expanded drilling.

"I think natural gas is an energy source that's right under our feet and we ought to be taking advantage of it," said Bill Olen from Nineveh.

Despite the huge turnout, the Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) did not mention fracking once in his 90 minute speech.
