Schoolchildren, Wolf Advocates to Hold Candlelight Vigil Against Plan to End Wolf Protections
As Public Comment Period Ends, Approximately 1 Million Comments to
Be Submitted Against Obama Proposal
WASHINGTON— Conservation groups today will hand-deliver to the Interior Department a portion of the approximately 1 million comments from Americans opposing plans to strip federal protections from wolves and then gather nearby for a candlelight vigil. The event marks the final day for submitting public comments on the Obama administration’s controversial proposal to end federal protections for most wolves in the lower 48 states.
Who: Families, school children and members of several conservation groups including the Endangered Species Coalition, Center for Biological Diversity and Environmental Action.
What: Candlelight vigil with music, signs and families and school children in wolf masks and costumes.
When: Comments delivered to Interior at 4:30 p.m. followed by a candlelight vigil, with top media opportunities between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Where: Triangle Park across from the C Street entrance of the Department of the Interior headquarters, 1849 C St. NW Washington, D.C. 20240.
Visuals: There will be music, families and schoolchildren in wolf masks and costume and more, with best visual opportunities for television and print at approximately 5:15 p.m. Wolf advocates will also be available for print, web and broadcast media.
