July 9, 2012 – The Center petitioned to protect the foothill yellow-legged frog under the federal Endangered Species Act.
June 30, 2015 – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced a positive finding on our petition to list the frog and initiated a status review for the species.
August 31, 2015 – The Center submitted 162 pages of comments demonstrating that the foothill yellow-legged frog should be protected under the Endangered Species Act.
December 23, 2015 – The Center filed a notice of intent to sue the Fish and Wildlife Service over its lengthy delay in deciding whether to extend Endangered Species Act protection to the foothill yellow-legged frog.
August 30, 2016 – The Center reached a settlement with the Fish and Wildlife Service requiring the agency to determine whether the foothill yellow-legged frog warrants protection as an endangered species by 2020.
April 26, 2017 – In response to our petition, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife recommended the state initiate a status review and consider an endangered or threatened listing for the foothill yellow-legged frog.
June 21, 2017 — In further response to our petition, the California Fish and Game Commission voted to advance the foothill yellow-legged frog as a candidate species under the California Endangered Species Act.
