Everyaction, For 26 years the Center for Biological Diversity has been fighting to get lesser prairie chickens protected under the Endangered Species Act. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is finally moving forward. Tell the Service you support listing lesser prairie chickens as endangered, as well as designating critical habitat so these birds can survive and recover. Once found across the southern Great Plains, these dancing birds have declined severely due to conversion of the prairie to croplands, heavy livestock grazing, fire suppression, oil and gas development, and impacts of climate change. Urge the Service to designate all lesser prairie chickens as endangered, designate critical habitat, and further to make these protections safe from oil and gas industry exemptions. |
