There's a lot of bad environmental news out there. But here's something good: Badly damaged landscapes can be restored, and many people are working to do just that. In her new book The Reindeer Chronicles, Judith Schwartz takes readers across the world to see how these projects work and how they're inspiring others.

Federal officials just busted a huge wildlife-trafficking ring. It's a big win. But the larger, global problem persists — threatening tens of thousands of species, causing extinctions, hurting people and spreading disease.
