The purpose of this policy is to ensure that we conduct our fundraising, and grow our member base in compliance with nationally-established guidelines so that our members’ trust and faith in us is well placed and deserved. Therefore, the Center adheres to the following:
2. Some donors may be recognized in publications like our quarterly membership newsletter or annual report. Testimonials will be published only with the consent of the donor. Donors may also notify us if they prefer that all or some of their contributions be made anonymously and not publicly recognized.

Finding more individuals to join in supporting our services is critical to the long-term success of our organization. The Center will, on occasion, share mailing lists with other well-established charitable, partner nonprofit organizations that are taking on vital conservation work our members care about. In these rare cases, our aim is to bring more attention to the issues and concerns that drive the mission of the Center and to allow the Center and our membership to be a positive force for change. In sharing lists, the following principles will always apply:
1, We will not sell, rent, give or exchange members’ names to, with, or from any political parties or candidates for public office.
2. In the rare instances where the Center shares a mailing list with a partner organization, we will ensure that the list is for one-time use, and the only information provided will be the member’s name and mailing address. No email or telephone information will ever be shared. We will maintain complete and accurate records of all uses of membership lists for at least such time as required by law. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (the “GDPR”), the Center does not share any data from EU countries or territories.
What personal information we collect
We may collect, store and use the following kinds of personal information:
(a) information about your computer and about your visits to and use of this website (including your IP address, approximate geographical location, browser type and version, operating system, referral source, length of visit, page views and website navigation paths);
(b) information that you provide to us when registering with our website (including your email address);

Visitors to our website who provide us with their name and e-mail address may be added to our e-mail list, from which they can be removed at any time by following the instructions that are found in our electronic communications by following the Opt out of mail list hyperlink. The Center’s online donation and merchandise pages are secured by leading global Certification Authorities. Their SSL and code-signing digital certificates are used globally to secure servers, provide data encryption, authenticate users, protect privacy and ensure online identities through stringent authentication and verification processes.
We use tracking technologies, such as cookies, pixels, and web beacons. A web beacon is an often transparent graphic image, usually no larger than 1 pixel x 1 pixel, that is placed on a website or in an email and used to monitor the online behavior of the user visiting our website. Web beacons are used by third-party technologies to monitor the activity of the users on our site. They allow for tracking online behavior in terms of time, geographic location (country/city level) and usage of this site and our marketing, based on that information. How we protect your personal information
We have implemented reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. We will store all the personal information you provide on our secure (password- and firewall-protected) servers. We have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you.
However, no data transmitted over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure. Therefore, you provide us with this data at your own risk. Our databases are located in the United States. If you are located outside of the United States, by sending us your data you consent to its transfer to and storage within the United States.
Personal information that we collect for any purpose shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose or those purposes.
Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third party.
Access to the site from countries or territories where such access is illegal or contrary to applicable rules or regulations is prohibited. The fight for justice has been at the core of the Center for Biological Diversity’s work for more than three decades. We believe the welfare of human beings is deeply linked to nature — to the existence in our world of a vast diversity of wild animals and plants. We welcome respectful civil discourse with our members.
The Center’s work embodies justice, equity, diversity, access and inclusion for all. There is no place for discrimination, racism, hatred, harassment, misogyny or bigotry of any kind at the Center. Discriminatory, abusive behavior or content communicated to the Center or its staff will result in termination of membership and/or being unsubscribed from the Center’s communications.
