BLM public land sale appealed in southern NevadaOctober 10, 2000: The Center, Western Land Exchange Project, and Sierra Club, Toiyabe Chapter appealed and are seeking a stay on a BLM land sale decision to offer 6,500 acres of public lands for development, in the Mojave desert of Lincoln County, Nevada. The sale is planned for Friday, Oct. 12, at the Mesquite, NV city hall in Clark County. The conservationists are working to protect wildlife and water quality in a ecosystem that harbors the Desert tortoise, Virgin River chub, Woundfin, Southwestern willow flycatcher, Yuma clapper rail and other imperiled species.
