Arizona labor unions support the Endangered Species Act Contact: Daniel R. Patterson, Center 520.623.5252 x306 TUCSON, Ariz. – On January 11 the Pima Area Labor Federation (AFL-CIO) passed a resolution in strong support of the Endangered Species Act. PALF represents more than 20,000 union workers and their families in Tucson and Southern Arizona. (See attached resolution.) “Protecting the environment and workers is related and common ground between labor and conservationists,” says Daniel R. Patterson, Desert Ecologist with the Center for Biological Diversity. “Support from Arizona workers shows the broad support Americans share for wildlife and the Endangered Species Act. The Senate should respect this and keep America’s most important wildlife law strong.” The PALF resolution in support of the Endangered Species Act is the latest of many from diverse groups across the nation. In 2005 the Center supported PALF and striking mine workers against Grupo Mexico. (end) |
