RANGE: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru at elevations from 210 feet to 14,746 feet above sea level

THREATS: Habitat loss due to resource extraction pressures; water contamination attributed to mining activities; tourism; development; and the direct threat of hunting for domestic consumption and international trading
 
POPULATION TREND: Recent censuses estimate the Andean flamingo population at about 34,000 individuals and declining.
