Dear Friends of the Verde River,
Please join us Friday evening, October 6, from 5:30 to
7:30 at The Grove in Prescott (119 Grove Avenue) for
another fun evening of letter writing to Save the Verde! Food
and beverages will be provided, as well as everything you need to
write letters to local newspaper editors and decision-makers.
For more information, contact Andrew Somerville at 928-445-0755 or
andrewsome@hotmail.com,
or Ashley Fine at 928-533-4309 or creasotebsh@yahoo.com.
Little Drop of Water The Center for
Biological Diversity is collecting beautifully decorated “Little
Drops” as part of the Little Drop of Water project!
Droplets will be available at the letter-writing party Friday, or
you can download your own today from the savetheverde.org website. Write your notes
for the Verde, promise to conserve water or request protection of
the river’s flows, and mail them to us at: Little Drop of Water,
Center for Biological Diversity, P.O. Box 39629, Phoenix, Ariz.
85069.
The Save the Verde Campaign Needs
YOU! Give the campaign a couple hours and help us hand
out flyers, make phone calls or write letters. You will also
make a big difference by attending public meetings. Just
showing up lets city and county officials know that you’re paying
attention and care about the issues. For more information,
contact Andrew Somerville at 928-445-0755 or andrewsome@hotmail.com, or
Ashley Fine at 928-533-4309 or creasotebsh@yahoo.com.
The Prescott City Council holds
study sessions on the first and third Tuesday of each month and
regular voting meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each
month at 3:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located at 201 S.
Cortez Street in Prescott. See its website for agendas: www.cityofprescott.net/leadership/meetings/.
The Prescott Valley Town Council’s
regular meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the
Civic Center, 7501 East Civic Circle (1st floor), Prescott
Valley. Upcoming meetings are on: October 12, October 26,
November 2, November 16 and December 7. See its website for agendas
and other information: www.pvaz.net/Government/council/index.htm.
In addition to the city council meetings, the
Upper Verde River Watershed Protection Coalition
holds meetings at the Prescott City Council Chambers on the fourth
Wednesday of each month. The coalition is an organization
formed by Yavapai County and the towns of Prescott, Prescott Valley,
Chino Valley and Dewey-Humboldt, and so far appears to be organized
around making sure the Big Chino Ranch Water Pipeline is built
despite a stated mission to help protect the Upper Verde River
watershed and its flows. Please plan to attend the next
coalition meeting on Wednesday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the City
Council Chambers of Prescott City Hall, located at 201 S. Cortez
Street in Prescott.
