The Save the Verde Campaign invites you to a pre-meeting meet-up!

The Upper Verde River Watershed Protection Coalition will hold its first meeting of the new year on Wednesday, January 24.  In preparation for this meeting, the Save the Verde campaign will hold a warm-up session on Tuesday evening, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the conference room at The Grove.  Come over and meet the campaign staff for support, ideas, and inspiration in speaking up for greater protections for the Verde River.

Warm-up Session:   January 23 from 7 p.m.
to 8:30 p.m. at The Grove Conference Room, 119 Grove Ave., Prescott.

Coalition Meeting:  January 24 at 2 p.m. at City of Prescott Council Chambers, 201 S. Cortez St., Prescott.

Even if you can't make the January 23 warm-up, please attend the coalition meeting on the 24th!

The website includes links to the scientific reports that the coalition should use to guide their actions.  Peer-reviewed U.S. Geological Survey reports (U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2004-1411 and U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 99-0378) state that 80 to 86 percent of the baseflow in the upper Verde River comes from the Big Chino aquifer—the same basin from which Prescott wants to pump more than eight million gallons of water per day.
