ACTION TIMELINE

February 19, 2009 – The Center formally protested Southern California Edison's application for the Presidential Substation Project before the California Public Utilities Commission.

March 19, 2009 – The Center submitted comments to the California Public Utilities Commission on shortcomings in the environmental review process.

June 25, 2009 – The Center filed a formal statement before the California Public Utilities Commission urging thorough environmental review and analysis of the project.

Summer 2009 to summer 2011 – The Center sought full public disclosure of documents related to the project, which revealed that the energy demand for the project was illusory and the project was not even needed.

Fall 2011 – The Center reviewed and prepared formal comments on the draft environmental impact report for the project.

March 13, 2014 – After years of work by the Center and allies, the California Public Utilities Commission rejected the Presiidential Substation Project. Instead of green-lighting the original project, the commission approved a scaled-down proposal to merrely upgrade existing substations.
