To the editor:
We Americans have a lot on our minds these days. But global warming is one concern that won’t go away; it will remain the biggest environmental challenge of our lifetimes, and our children’s and grandchildren’s, too.
We can stop global warming’s progress toward catastrophe, but it will require effort from all of us. We can carpool, walk or bicycle, buy only fuel-efficient vehicles, and carefully plan car trips to conserve fuel. And we can recycle, conserve water and energy, and urge our families and neighbors to do the same.
But we also must keep up the pressure on our elected officials and candidates for office to keep working on solutions to global warming by supporting alternative, renewable energy sources to take the place of oil, coal, and other greenhouse gas-producing fuels.
